Is it possible to repair credit with debt settlement? In a round about way, yes it is. If your credit score has taken a hit because of non payment of credit card debt, you won't be able to repair it by settling other debts, but you will be able to free up funds to get back on the right track. Repairing credit after debt settlement will take time, but not as much as it would if you declared bankruptcy. Bankruptcy will be a mark on your credit history for at least ten years. After a settlement, if you take out a small loan and pay it back on time, open a savings account, and show responsibility when paying your bills, your credit will come back. Debt settlement will allow you to clear out old debts, and start demonstrating responsible Credit behavior. That is the only way in which to clean up your credit. Be sure to check your credit reports periodically to make sure there are not mistakes that need to be cleared up. And finally, after you repair credit with debt settlement, do yourself a favor and stay out of debt. Pay off credit cards every month, or better yet, don't use them at all!
